Carnival Park

It has been years since Carnival Park has recorded a new tune. One might say that they broke up after their Shelflife stint in the early 2000's. Or went into hibernation for an extended period of time. Because come 2007, a few shows were played but still no substantial news about anything, really. Until well, "This Feels Like Summer" came out:

It's a fabulous track destined to become a summer pop classic. The band has emerged with a more polished pop sound akin to Lucky Soul and The Sundays. This past May, Carnival Park posted three demos on their Bandcamp page. This gives us a first-hand listen on what they will be offering soon. Yes, they're working on a split EP to be issued by Dufflecoat Records, and an album is also in the works. But for now, have a taste of their demos here.

Some Gorgeous Accident

Some Gorgeous Accident [Ph] is an accidental affair, that's all we know. Winter In Watercolors was originally released as a cassette mini-album by Best Kept Secret two or three years ago and is now available digitally on the SGA Bandcamp page. In addition, earlier this month, the band released a free online single. It's called Luminescence and 4imaginaryboys called it "a fine masterpiece of shoegaze-dreampop."

Download it for free here.

Archaster

Out of the ashes of Fingernail Cocktail, Archaster was born. This was sometime in the last quarter of 1996. Fast forward to May 7th of this year, the band issued a free online EP called Badly Written Rhymes. You can download the two-song EP here.

Rewind back to last year, Oct. 10th to be specific, Archaster re-released digitally a re-recorded version of the out-of-print Willow Low EP, which first came out in 1999. The new "old" EP contains a cover of The Gothic Archies' "Smile, No One Cares How You Feel" not available from the previous version. Yes, very much so, Archaster is heavily influenced by Stephin Merritt's music. Download the Willow Low EP here.

Currently, Archaster is busy working on a couple of projects, including a contribution to the Trembling Blue Stars tribute album and a split CD-EP release, both under the dazzling new label, Dufflecoat Records and a collaborative effort with electronica outfit Tarsius.

Time flies by so fast when you're having fun. After two years and eight compilations, we've made new friends and reacquainted ourselves with old ones. Hard to believe, but this is our story so far.
